Jesse has seen his friend Finn and his sister Brie with bruises and scared before. But when their father put her in the hospital after trying to kill her, Jesse enlisted the help of his parents. So Finn and Brie joined the family. A motorcycle racing family. From the moment Brie joined their household, Jesse was taken with her. This introduction goes through what happens after that.
This is an excellent introduction to the character and subject matter that will be in ‘Between the Lines’. The characters, their personalities, experiences and motivations are detailed. The characters are flawed but interesting and personable. I am interested in finding out what happens to them next. The storyline weaves back and forth through time and it is told alternately from the point of view of Brie and Jesse. This add a lot of interest and makes it easier to become familiar with them. I know very little about motorcycle racing but think the author did a great job getting me interested in it. This novella does it job in that it provides a great launching point for the book. I definitely want to read what comes next.
