About Mark Petit

I have been writing poetry and song lyrics for more than 40 years, but I only recently published my work. It's been exhilarating and terrifying. For a poet doesn't just share a piece of his mind, he shares a piece of his heart.

Much of my poetry is deeply personal, which for poets, I suppose, is not unusual. But sharing that work publicly means exposing those thoughts and feelings. The hope of any writer of course is to make a connection. I hope my work touches you in some way.

My first book: Anybody Want a Peanut? is now available. And I have begun work on my next book titled: Words That Rhyme with Orange.

The poems in this little volume really do run the gamut, and you can feel how the writer's experiences slowly change his perspective on love and life and sorrow. Many of the longer poems just beg to be sung, while the shorter ones hook into your mind with clever rhymes and turns of phrase. My personal favorite, "Old Friend," is nostalgia tinged with regret that ebbs and flows like water among rocks. I highly recommend it!

Words for me don't come easy; having said that, understand I'm probably not giving it the kind of review it deserves. the writings as the author stated are easy to understand and there is something in each one that many can identify there feelings and emotions with ; it touchs hearts!
