About Albert A. Bell, Jr

Albert A. Bell, Jr teaches at Hope College, in Holland, MI. His children's historical mystery, The Secret of the Lonely Grave (2007), connects contemporary children with the Underground Railroad and the Civil War era. The book won the 2008 Evelyn Thurman Young Readers’ Award, given by the Western Kentucky University Libraries, and a silver medal from the Mom’s Choice Awards. The second book in the series, The Secret of the Bradford House, was published in 2010.

Bell is also the author of a mystery series set in ancient Rome and featuring Pliny the Younger. Barbara D’Amato found the first installment, All Roads Lead to Murder (2002), to be “a wonderful book.” The second in the series, The Blood of Caesar (June 2008), was called “. . . a masterpiece of the historical mystery genre” by Library Journal. The third in the series, The Corpus Conundrum, will be published in 2011. Steven Saylor called it “inspired.” A contemporary mystery, Death Goes Dutch, was published in March 2006. Midwest Book Review dubbed it “a gem." By the author of the highly acclaimed series of Roman mysteries featuring Pliny the Younger.
