Mini-review: The Black Hound and Other Stories, by Emmanuel Paige.
The second ebook of this author, which I enjoy to mention. Once more I had decided for the PDF version, and found nothing to regret in it. While not all stories are my gusto, the format and prose of the author works on a higher standard.
To hint: Running one of his stories through a proofreading software made him (without meddling or changes) score 94 points, where my own score is around 85 to 93 only. ;-) This means sentences are well-formulated and a lot of grammar works along with the flow.
To me the stories remind of American Horror and Crime Fiction, in the way of movies from the Eighties to more modern. I liked that, especially, as the first story (Robert and Cynthia, and one dog to interfere) is pretty classic on it.
Thirteen stories, some supernatural, while others mostly thrilling, or murder-mystery, which pack their own prosaic punch. Like the second story, Hilljacks, when ones is too far-gone for Hillbillies & Rednecks alike.
Tastes vary, but, as a cost-free gift, this was certainly worthy to be checked out. And, like I wrote the author: My 4 star rating has to do with no option to click 4.5 stars AND with not giving 5 stars, as I reviewed on day of purchase (by coupon making it cost-free), here on #Smashwords.
Bonus: The homepage of this author is worth a visit, dear readers!
