Glass House Reviews
on Oct. 13, 2012 :
This review falls squarely into the category entitled: Be Careful What You Ask For. Then again, perhaps the publisher is of the oft-quoted opinion that there is no such thing as bad publicity. Regardless, I cannot in good conscience give this ebook anything more than a 1 STAR review.
It's just a short story, fewer than 6000 words, and it's only 99 cents. Save your money. Save your Kindle storage for something with more substance. If it's arousal you seek, there is much better erotica available for the same price. (In fact, my colleague reviewed one such title not long ago.) For that matter, you're better off spending $6+ on the 36-minute audio version (which I was also asked to review, by the way) than a buck on the written word. The 1st person perspective & elementary writing style lends itself well to oration, and the narrator is well-suited for the role.
Mira & Me by Rod Stone has all the trappings of a dirty old man's wank fantasy. Son has a hot new wife. Son is shipped out for some military assignment (I forget where), and daddy's left to take care of the lusty ebony beauty. Interracial May-December in-law sex ensues. End of story. Needless to say, I won't be seeking any more of this author's work.
It's as if he tried to hit as many high-selling categories as he could with one vignette. Granted, it's marginally titillating in a porny fashion. I mean, even campy cheap trashy porn will eventually arouse its viewers (once they stop laughing). Just the fact that folks are doin' the nasty has a way of tickling the libido.
The best thing about this ebook from One Handed Reads (!) is its cover art. Seriously. I mean, who wouldn't want to snuggle up to that gorgeous model? She even makes my pink parts tingle.
