Maxine is having the time of her life. With a camera that can raise the dead and a mirror that shows her what is happening in the house next door, 14-year-old Maxine Nutbeam is playing a dangerous game. But time is running short.
The camera belongs to Dante Mandragora, the enigmatic Time Mage who is very interested in Maxine. Time is missing, minutes are being drained away, stolen. The young Maxine shows a certain dexterity with the camera, and Dante wonders why. Maxine only wants to find her father, whom she doesn't really believe is dead.
With her mother in jail and her crazy Aunt involved in a scheme to trick Dante, Maxine finds herself in a headlong rush of danger and chaos, running from murderous Beldames, and stumbling onto the real reason the entire structure of time is about to be destroyed forever.
