I didn't realise at the time, but I spent much of my youth researching the back story for 'Rathbone Kydd - sex'n'drugs'n'quantum stuff'. OK, not necessarily first hand, although some of it was; I certainly met my fair share of psycho-bikers and drug-addled music fans, and I sang in rock bands, leading to some of the other stuff. I should also add that I've lived in Exeter, Devon, and I've been to various Greek islands, but I've never been subjected to quantum experiments - well, none that I can recall, but who knows for sure?
Still not realising it, I've spent much of later life researching the foreground story for Rathbone, so maybe I was part of that experiment, after all. I am a public servant: my employers have a rule that I can have a business interest as long as I don't use my job title to further it, so I can't say what I do. However, a small amount of digging on the internet will possibly give it away. I am a father of two teens - one male, one female, both headstrong, both wonderful (alternating with not-so-wonderful moments), and I am husband to the lovely Theresa (I am not worthy). I was born on 24 August 1957 - send me a card (actually, cash will do).
"Pike's Quest" was my first published novel and it's intended to be fun. NONE of my life was spent researching this one: I've never experienced anything that Pike goes through - although, now that I thing about it, there was that talking horse that one time ... Broadly, it would be classified as "Young Adult", but at various readings I've had groups of adults laughing out loud - hopefully at the content! The numerous four- & five- star reviews on Amazon UK indicate that my readership is mainly adult, so quite what that does for the book industry categorisations I'm not sure.
I have a sequel to "Pike's Quest" in the pipe-line, which I had hoped to release before the end of 2012. It may see the light of day at some point.

I loved this book. At most parts you will feel like you're a bystander to the conversations and scenes that unfold. You're tempted to join and you catch yourself laughing out loud. For anyone who wants a good book to escape into a whole other world AND have a good time, then this book is definitely for you.
