About Mathieu Young

Mathieu R. Young-Larocque also known by his pen names M. R Young or simply Mathieu Young was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada in 1982 and is a Canadian Metis descendant of the Mikmah people of Gaspé, Quebec. He is a full time Law Enforcement Officer, Photographer and part-time children’s author. Mathieu is fluently bilingual in both French and English.

Always a keen storyteller, it was the birth of his son in 2018 that inspired Mathieu to write for children and he is now a best-selling author of several children’s books, including Kashton and Bear, My Mommy Loves Me More, Goodnight My Little One, Daddy Loves Me and Mommy Loves Me. He also has 3 other books that are in various states of completion and which he hopes to publish very soon.

In his spare time Mathieu enjoys the great outdoors, with hiking and wilderness survival being among his favourites. He has a passion for fly fishing and likes nothing better than camping with friends and family and sharing stories over a campfire. His most amazing experience was a five-day hike along the Juan de Fuca straight near Victoria, British Columbia where he slept on beaches and listened to whales surfacing for air offshore during the night. One of the best experience of his life next to the birth of his son.

Everything that Mathieu does is for his son and he hopes that his storytelling will continue for many years to come, entertaining and delighting children with books that they will love to read and have read to them.

Mathieu Young resides in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with his wife, his son Kashton and two cats Hemi and Bruno.
