Once upon a time in a far off land, there was a princess who lived in a beautifully adorned palace. She lived there with her sisters and they were very beautiful but very vain.

The people of this place had a traditional custom of giving a blanket to the person you love if you loved that someone as a partner for life. Everyone is given a blanket by the village elders when they are born as a symbol of love and protection, and this blanket is traded for someone else's when you fall in love.

The princess and her sisters all had beautifully hand-made blankets, sewn together with golden threads, fashioned from the best fabrics from around the world. Of course, the sisters would never dream of trading their beautiful blankets for anyone else's unless it was equally as beautiful or more. But the little princess was different.

One day while walking through the square, she met a young man who clearly was not from their village. His clothes and accent were different. He was handsome, and though intelligent, he stuck out like a sore thumb. It was clear to the other sisters that the little princess and the stranger liked each other, so they teased her mercilessly about it.
