(Sorrow)

A young woman sits folding shadows beneath a willow. She looks happy. Her fingers are as slim as the shadows are delicate.

A young boy’s face parts the murk. When he opens his mouth the wind roars with the sound of breaking bones. He closes his lips and slips back into the shadows.

Jennifer looks confused and frightened.

She says, “Who are you?”

A raven sings as everything grows dark.
