No Good Deed
Hunter F. Goss
No good deed goes unpunished. I couldn’t remember who said it, but it made sense.
When you’re hurling along the A27 at dusk on a Vincent Black Shadow at a hundred and five miles an hour, things get simple. The grey areas in your mind disappear along with the bullshit. The lights of Brighton get smaller in the rear view with each passing minute. I feel the wind on my face along with the occasional hit from an insect. And at this speed, they feel like needles being jammed into my flesh. The sensation jolts my brain making me sharper. More alert.
