Dirk pulled up to his brother Cooper’s house and cut the engine. He sighed, staring at the light in the front window. While he watched, another came on, and he knew that one was the master bedroom where Cooper and his lover Erik slept. They’d been together a good month, and from talking to his brother, he knew Cooper was happy. That’s what he wanted, but he couldn’t help feeling jealous too. Coop had what he’d told himself didn’t interest him. Dirk made a habit of finding a cute man, bordering on too young to be legal, using his beautiful body, and then discarding him. Yet, that wasn’t even the type of man he was attracted to. He kept his personal life separated from professional one. He was a damn good detective, one of the best. His work had been acknowledged by the mayor on several occasions, and he loved what he did. Lately, that hadn’t been enough.
