I JUST STOOD there for a second.

Why was there a sock on my doorknob?

Had a neighbor thought I’d lost a sock while carrying laundry and put it on the knob? No, that doesn’t make any sense; we all have washers and dryers in our units. It’s one of the big selling points of the complex.

A.J. and I had joked around just the other day about having a sock on the knob. That was when Teagan was going to be standing in the middle of the living room in her all-together. Who really wants their boyfriend to see their sister sans covering?

I thought about it some more, trying to piece together some facts so that emotion didn’t get the best of me. A.J. did say just a couple of hours ago that he wanted to talk to me.
