The slimy teeth of the Gornak danced inches away from Dornin Kelee's feet like a row of deadly swords. The hot breath blasted past him as he hung hard by white knuckled fingertips and dared not keep his gaze focused too long upon the vicious predator. Dornin had fallen into the Gornak's nest while alone on a hunting expedition. The Gornak, a notoriously ravenous beast, was only capable of three thoughts as surmised by the people of Dornin's village: eat, eat and eat. Dornin held to a root of a nearby tree that seemed to have been placed there just for him. Fortunately for Dornin and not for the Gornak, the beast's legs were unusually short for such a ferocious monster, and if one could climb upward, one could escape from the jaws of this menace.
