I am thirty seven years old. I was happily married for 15 years to my college sweetheart. We met when we both had no money, we got married and for the first five years of our married life we struggled with student debt and underpaid employment. The next ten were blissful. One Saturday morning he went out for a run; he collapsed about four hundred yards from home. He was an active runner. He ran marathons in his spare time. In all aspects he was healthy. He ate regularly balanced meals with fresh fruits and vegetables. We always joked that I would die of a heart attack first because I don’t even own a pair of sneakers and I eat donuts for breakfast. It was a shock. We never had kids. The doctors told me long ago I have a condition that prevents me from carrying a child to full term. We could have adopted, we chose not to. We both had nieces and nephews and as teachers we both had plenty of kids at school.
