Who am I?
I am not a professional writer or a psychologist. Just a person who has experienced a lot and seen even more. I don’t claim to anything other than what I am…you’ll see. Many other books have been written about addiction. These books are usually boring, useless, or written for academic scholars. No one reads that nonsense and they don’t help anyone. I have taken from my experiences, strengths, and hopes to put this text together. My goal for this reading is that it will save someone from the pain that I have endured due to the disease of addiction.
I often use the word drugs, but that includes alcohol as well. Don’t be confused. I’ll put it very simply-- alcohol is a drug. This text uses addict, alcoholic, addiction, and alcoholism interchangeably. This book is not written to cover research or tell a glamour story about drugs. It was not written to teach drug use. It is written to engage the reader and force you to think. I hope that parts of this text make you empathize, some sections get you angry, others promote understanding, and the whole experience makes you most importantly-- aware.
