Some nights were worse than others. And some were not half bad. Crazy thing, wasn’t it, that he could still sometimes feel happy to be alive, joyous even?
“Boy you sure have a lot of prescription bottles in there.” The guy’s silhouette appeared, backlit from the bathroom light. “Uh, I mean, don’t want to pry or anything.”
“It’s okay,” said Steven. “I have leukemia.” It was strange how light-hearted he felt saying that out loud. The guy sat down on the bed and now Steven could see the beefy muscles on his chest highlighted by the bathroom light and one bulging bicep as the guy rubbed at the top of his shaggy haircut. “Does it bother you?” asked Steven.
