I’m on the threshold of having a blow-out. It’s now over ten-hours in overcrowded stuffy buses on rough roads since I began this journey. I’m longing to see my online fiancé. I’ve finally agreed to marry him and that’s why I’ve flown from my country to this desolate parched land. But I must be quick to say this; it was not only love that made me come to this strange land but also the thrill of living away from civilization. I’m not even sure whether I love the man I’m going to marry. I happen to have been born in a wealthy family where I missed virtually nothing except love. But did you know sometimes wealth without love can be as suffocating as poverty? This is how I’ve been feeling all through until I developed this urge to run away and live the experience of poverty. No, no, my fiancé did not trick me at all, he had warned me about the appalling poverty he and his people were living in and yet I insisted to come and marry him though against his wish. Do I sound like a crazy person? Well, there are times I truly act like a crazy woman. In fact my parents refused to give me money to travel, branding me absurd. So I withdrew my life savings of only 2,000 dollars and set off to Africa.
