All My Nocturnal Days

I meet Night walking around the District, where only greasy sidewalks and aromas of corn tortillas can soothe me. I work all day in a downtown office surrounded by glassy sun and fog; every day I go home, eat, ride my bike, then bed.

Every time I get into bed, I start to get scared.

So once again I'm walking down the Street past closed empty-shelved panaderias, CD stores blasting Ranchero, and the odd scared-looking tourist looking uncertain if it was OK to be out at night around here.
