Going to America
Ana and Crina Lecca are elderly twin sisters living on Milcov Street in Bacau, a quiet town nestled in the hills of Northeastern Romania. Like many other old folks in the city, Ana and Crina make ends meet by selling odd things, such as macramé, pickled cabbage heads and bors. I often buy bors, a sour soup stock made from fermented cereals and water, from them. I am always happy to help my parents by doing little chores, such as buying bread, bors, noodles or detergent for my mother or wine for my father. Whenever she needs bors, my mom gives me a raffia bag containing two empty milk bottles and says:
-Silvia, why don't you go and buy some bors from Lecca sisters?
