The clatter of the mailbox being slammed shut woke Jess up. It startled her enough to nearly knock her out of bed. She angrily kicked her sheets aside and flopped her arms back down onto the bed.
“What the hell is wrong with people?” she muttered and snatched the clock off of her side table. It read 11:30am.
Her hair was an absolute mess on top of her head and her mahogany curls stood out wildly, as if trying to escape. The light brown of her eyes was circled in a bloodshot red and her mouth was dry as the Sahara. She was still in the clothes that she was wearing last night: a tight-fitting, short dress with silver sequins all over the place. Her black heels laid in front of her bed, seemingly the only thing that she was able to remove before crashing the night before.
Jess slid out of bed and dragged her feet over to a desk with a large mirror.
