Guy Hagar heard voices in his head. Only they weren't his. He remembered when such occurrences were causes for concern, but in his line of work, they were to be expected. He strolled along one aisle of the minimum-security block. Solid-looking metal doors with little portholes marched down either side.
He stopped to look inside on occasion, checking the power indicator above the door first. In this one, he saw a young man. He lounged on his cot, which took up most of the space of the walk-in closet sized cell. A book hovered several inches over his chest.
Guy remembered what it was like to be young. Only ten more years until retirement. He checked the status screen beside the door. "Unauthorized Telekinetic Activity," eh? There were a lot of those in the minimum wing.
Still, it was a shame to lock up someone so young. Someone with so much life left. Guy paged down on the screen, but it held no more details as to the inmate's actual crime. It's just like the government, he mused, to lock someone up and then forget why.
