Martini’s & Weed Whackers

Martini's and weed whackers don't mix. I say this from personal experience, having witnessed the outcome of one such pairing.

It was a balmy evening in late July when Dennis, my husband of 20 years, mixed himself a second martini and retreated to the sanctuary of the garage. He spent most evenings there, tinkering with models, smoking cherry cigars, and listening to National Public Radio. The garage was his domain. Filled with more tools than any one man should own, assorted pieces and parts of things he was ‘gonna fix someday’, and the latest greatest garage sale finds, it was a place I visited only occasionally. However on this evening, I popped my head in the door to request that he take out the garbage.
