The Dictionary defines ‘ground’ as being the surface of the Earth, and the connecting of an electrical current to the Earth through a conductor. It defines ‘center’ as being the middle of a place, having equal distance on all sides. These are, perhaps, the best definitions of grounding and centering I have ever come across.
One of the most important things you will learn in this Course is how to 'Ground and Center'. You probably do this instinctively, without even knowing it... you might go for a walk to calm down or, you could smoke a cigarette, eat a big bowl of ice cream, drink a cold beer after a hard day at work. These are all ways to relax. Reading, doing cross-word puzzles, gardening, tai-chi workouts, and even cooking are techniques for relaxing, and there are many others.
