Ryan Jensen sat at his desk, pretending to read a document on his laptop, but in reality watching as a fly spun lazy circles around the room, landing in various locations in the room always just out of reach of Ryan’s chair—the bookshelf, the windowsill, and even worse, the glass next to the guest futon that held Ryan’s Jack and Coke which he had foolishly left behind when he moved to the desk—then alighting again before Ryan could even consider his next move.

Ryan didn’t move his head to track the fly’s progress, but his eyes darted around the room, following the tiny dark intruder. Sitting perfectly still, he just watched. And waited.

Then it made its mistake, landing at the far corner of the desk next to the lamp.
