Kasim’s betrayal was very hard for Kammani to cope with and she wanted to leave the Ottoman Empire immediately. When they went to retrieve their horse at the stables they had left it at the owner had bad news for them. Shaozu was sad to hear that Suzhou Boy was dead, though at least the fine stallion had died from natural causes unlike poor Wild Dragon. The owner of the stable offered to sell them another horse and Kammani stopped him midpitch and she asked him to take the cart off their hands instead. She viewed the horse’s death as a blessing in disguise. It would take too long to leave these lands travelling by horse and cart. They would leave immediately by boat.
