As Michael scored the last basket everyone rushed to his side to congratulate him and thank him for being able to go to the finals. All the cheerleaders surrounded him and gushed. Somehow my boyfriend had gotten to be the best basketball player on the team.
I had to admit, for the first time I felt a little left out. But Michael quickly realized it and came and got me. He put his arm around me and smiled at everyone. I couldn't stop the blushing.
As everyone began to scatter he pulled me closer, "Don't you ever stay away from me like that again. You're my girl and I’m proud of it."
It was the first time Michael called me "his" girl and I couldn't stop the feeling of euphoria surrounding me for the moment. I wanted to shout it to the rooftops. "I didn't want to interrupt your moment as the hero of the team." I said glad that he wanted me close.
