Author's Prologue

For those of you who have read my first book, this prologue will serve as a refresher, and might perhaps clear up a few things. For those who haven't read part one it will serve to plunk you down in the middle of an odyssey that is really better understood by reading the first book. However, I won't insist that you experience the first book before reading this one. After all, a good story is a good story and I think you will find this one better than the last.

I wrote The Dooda, Book One (Quest for the Talisman) at a stressful time in my life. It was 1992 and I was experiencing the breakup of my graphic arts company that I had worked so hard to build during the previous thirteen years. I had been married but a short time, and we had just bought a small piece of property. Finding new employment was difficult and I was frankly quite scared that I might have to leave the area. Although I searched quite diligently, I was without a job for many months and I began to write for a diversion. When an opportunity finally presented itself to go to work for an old established printing firm in Eugene, I jumped at the chance and put the writing aside.
