Chapter One: About George Orwell
George Orwell was born “Eric Blair” in India, in 1903. For his education he was sent to England where he studied as a scholarship student at highly reputed boarding schools. Orwell often described his family as “lower upper middle class”, and about his experience in the boarding schools in England he said that he never quite fit in those schools, for they maintained dictatorial control over students. Orwell felt oppressed and outraged. In his books he has often mentioned about the rude hand which the schools’ administrators applied over the pupils.
