Presidential election years always have an air of excitement, anxiety, and anticipation about them. A new president of the United States can impact, sometimes in a big way, the futures of the citizens of the U.S. and other countries throughout the world. It is cause for a little extra anxiety about the future. So what effect does this anxiety have on the price of gold? Gold is an international trade commodity and is affected by changes in supply and demand like other commodities. Gold is also affected by events that occur throughout the world, such as, major changes in power or wars. There really is no way of knowing what will happen to the price of gold after the election in 2012, however, we can gain some understanding of what might happen to the price by looking at past election years.
