To Fly is Everything

Otto Lilienthal (1848-1896) from whom the Wright Brothers gained much of their inspiration once said: "To invent an airplane is nothing. To build one is something. But to fly is everything." He was then all too prophetic: "Sacrifices must be made." He died on August 10th., 1896 from injuries sustained two days earlier in a crash of one of his hang gliders.
