It hasn't been heard in over a thousand years.
“Jamie, are you ready?” Brandon asked me.
I begrudgingly snapped back to reality. We were sitting in a small café overlooking the Tasman Sea in Sydney, Australia. I was still uneasy about letting Brandon take me into enemy territory; at least, that's what it used to be. It had only been a few days since my world had come crashing down.
“You're being a little dramatic,” Brandon answered my thoughts.
Maybe I was being a little dramatic, but I had just been betrayed and lied to by my closest friends. I had a right to be dramatic.
“We have to go meet Samuel across town in twenty minutes. We need to hurry,” he complained.
We paid our bill and began walking down the busy streets of Sydney.
As soon as we had left our old home in the Las Vegas mountains, Brandon told me everything about Samara, and how he had found out the ugly truth.
“On our way to Brava, I thought I kept hearing Eric's thoughts. It was a little fuzzy at first, but when he saw the Aura, his thoughts were so clear. He kept thinking about how much Samara wanted all of them. It wasn't until the Australians showed up that I heard the truth from their thoughts...and from Eric's. He wasn't sure how to feel about it because, I mean, it's his mom and the humans did kill his father, ya know? And with Vulcan throwing you into the lava, and us trying to fight the Australians off, I was too distracted and confused to tell you when you came out,” he rambled on. His sentences almost ran together; he was talking so fast.
“And then they got me. They drug me away and chained me up and the last thing I saw was you breathing fire! I still can't believe you can do that,” he exclaimed. “But the next thing I knew I was in their mountain. Samuel told me everything. And now I can hear more than just your thoughts, so I knew he was telling me the truth. I think I can hear everyone's thoughts now. Well, not everyone just yet; but I think eventually I'll be able to.
