Chapter 1

“Would you agree that a man who can commit criminal acts shouldn’t be able to run for elective office?” Nate West said. He was a big man, only a few years out of college. He looked like he’d been an athlete in school, and he probably still lived an active life even now.

“What sort of criminal acts are we talking about?” I said. “Passing bad checks, election fraud, spitting on the sidewalk, that kind of thing?” I wasn’t sure this was going to lead anywhere. In this day and age, a politician doing illegal things was no big deal. Some took money or other forms of graft. Some couldn’t keep it in their pants. And let’s be honest; some female politicians couldn’t keep it out of their pants.
