"You're hovering again," Tommy said, looking up from the plans in front of him.
Xavier was standing just to his right, not too close and not too far away... at least in bodyguard's terms. Xavier wasn't a bodyguard. He was Tommy's mate and for being his mate, Tommy felt Xavier was distinctly too far away. He wondered if that was his fault. Xavier had been waiting a long time to be claimed by him. They both had.
"Come here," Tommy said.
Xavier hesitated. His gray eyes were round and wide, filled with doubt. He chewed on his bottom lip.
Tommy grinned. Not many people got to see Xavier like this - the nervous, shy man. He tended to put on a mask of silent confidence in public, but alone, like this, Tommy got to see a hidden part of Xavier.
Xavier took a skittish step forward.
