I would like to thank my partner, Susan Woods, for her support, and her contributions in the proofreading and cover design departments.
This is the third book in the Humal Sequence and, originally, I intended it to be the last. In fact, I seem to recall I thought A Taste of Despair might finish the series! What's that saying about the road to Hell?
So, from two books it grew to a trilogy and now, as you'll find when you get to the end of this one, there is another book to come. That one, I promise, will conclude the story.
This one however, does not. What it does do is set things up for the final book. I know what you are thinking. You're thinking, "Oh no! A dull book with lots of padding!" Not so. The action is pretty much non-stop throughout.
That said, this is also the largest book I've written to date. At one point I even toyed with the idea of splitting it into two books. But there was no convenient break point and, if I had done that, then I probably would have had to pad each out with unnecessary frippery. That was something I wasn't prepared to do.
