The charm, or rather, the Charm -with a capital C that rhymes with T that stands for…Well, you know. Where was I? The Charm. It was a gift from a distant relative from the old country. He wouldn’t say much except that I was to hang onto it because one day, someday, I would know exactly what it was for. He said my destiny would become clear and everything would make sense.
Maybe it was a Greek thing, because I was just superstitious enough to drop the thing in whatever purse I was carrying. At worse, the smooth, round piece that looked a lot, but not quite exactly like a piece of polished jasper, made a nice worry stone. As for my destiny, I had/have a good life. My job with one of the bigger advertising firms in town gave me a decent paycheck, I have some friends who’d take a bullet for me and vice versa and while the man or, let’s be honest the woman of my dreams has not walked into my life, I’m still having fun.
