Tami Heart stood at the diner window watching the heavy snowfall. Like stiff peaks of meringue, the snow formed rippled drifts that hid the street and sidewalks. Wind lifted and swirled snowflakes like confectioner’s sugar. Unlike sugar, this powder stung the face with its freezing shards of ice. She dreaded leaving the warmth of the diner to face the snow again, but her package wasn’t going to mail itself.
