Bang! A loud crack sounded out through the night.
It was a little after ten o’clock when I was suddenly awake. I was pretty sure it wasn’t from a dream. My room was pitched black and since my dad refused to turn the heat on much at night to save on the electric bill, it was cold. I got out of bed, peeked out my window and saw a heavy snow fall had started sometime between my flying dream and the one where I wasn’t wearing any pants in the halls at high school.
I poked my head out the door and saw movement. The hair on my neck stood up until I switched the light on and realized it was my mother. She rubbed her eyes, shambled a bit closer down the hall and then stopped by my door.
“Did you hear that?” I asked.
