The following is a copy of a report made by Sergeant Daniel Miller, a member of the Michigan State Police Special Case unit. He was dispatched to Cheboygan, Michigan to investigate the disappearance under suspicious circumstances of the individual Susie Connolly. Sgt. Miller stored this copy within a safety deposit box while the only other known copies were summarily destroyed by order of the FBI. Sgt. Miller was later fired for persistence in investigating the case. The report is as follows:
I arrived at the Cheboygan Sheriff’s department at 5 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 1995. I was there to investigate the disappearance under suspicious circumstances of a woman named Susie Connolly, then aged 22, two nights ago on Saturday. Normally a missing persons case wouldn’t warrant the use of the Special Case Unit, but since the primary suspect was a private building contractor from California and the circumstances of the disappearance were quite unusual, the local police called in our assistance.
