The Shaman closed his eyes. His recent Vision Quests had foretold that the end was coming. And again, similar images floated into his mind… an unstoppable wind sweeping rain sideways, charging forward as if commanding the army of fist sized hail to smash into the strange towering mountains of glass and steel. A wall of water rising from the horizon so high it threatened to block the sun. The only thing in its path was the object of its vengeance – people fleeing frantically on the black ground between the square mountains, reminding him of buffalo stampeding. A young girl showing no fear raced towards the horizon with a look determined to stop the approaching wall of water. Her blue eyes glowed against her pale skin that was framed by curls of yellow hair lying flat from the deluge of rain. She fought through the scrambling crowd and the roar of wind like a fish fighting against the current. Just before the storm almost lifted her off her feet, she charged underground into a dark tunnel that was filling with water…
The Shaman’s eyes flashed open. A few whispers of sage smoke still hung in the air and he was alone with the rhythmic sound of drips falling from the Cavern ceiling. Was this the Vision he had been waiting for… would she be the one to save Alacar, or would she die trying?
