I Have To Do What?? For That Little Pay??
"You know what boss spells backwards? Double S.O.B....". Or another one just like it; "It is that I need the paycheck......", or "I am always asked to do more than what I get paid for......". Or how about the boss saying: "I own a business with 63 employees, but I actually have 63 headaches......". And when the employees and the employers collide that way, say these kinds of things, the other party reacts. All while the employment exist because of the businesses, and the businesses exist because of the employees under guidance of the employer. One needs the other, and yet there always seem to be friction. Up to the point where employers fire employees, and the employees sue the employer. All because they did say this or that, they did do this or that, and they are just like this or that. Even if the words are never spoken, tension and friction within the work place are almost always based on them. People doing or saying things that trigger a response, and that response in turn evokes another response. And so the cycle is created.
Employers and employees. So vital in our world, in this economy, and yet it is the one thing that drives all of the involved parties up the wall at any given time. That is why bookstores have complete sections for books on how to get along in your place of employment. People skill seminars draw hordes of employers in the hope to find an answer on how to please the employees. And in every phonebook you can find listings for counselors and mediators to help in the employee versus employer battle. Jobs involving the ability to get along with other people, are among the highest paid anywhere in the world, and even there employees don't always get along with their employer. And all these books, seminars and counselors tell us that we should be more like this, think more like that, act more like whatever. Now don't get the wrong idea, because it is important to learn that people have different personality styles, and that there are certain responsibilities resting on both sides of the party. But after the seminar or the counseling session life comes around, and we all fall back into our old habits. Because that is just who we are, aren't we?! I should be able to be myself, he or her or they should just take me for who I am!!! And the opposite party, who annoys the "you know what" out of you, says the same thing. And before you now it, the work place is once again a battleground.
