Billy Dodd woke up. His head was throbbing. He looked over at his nightstand. There was a tall glass of water sitting next to his alarm clock. He closed his eyes and moaned. Someone told him if he drank a glass of water before passing out, the hangover would be lessened. He opened his eyes again. Next time he’ll remember to actually drink the water. He lifted his head off of the pillow and she moved.
Her hair was autumn brown. It was thin and glowing in the morning sunlight as it hung haphazardly over her face. She was lying on his chest and shoulder. His arm was numb underneath her. Billy slowly tried slipping out from under her, but she stirred. “Hmmm.” She moaned as her eyes fluttered open. Her hair was tickling her eyelashes. She shook her head gently to remove the thin strands and looked up at him. Normally she had very beautiful green eyes. This morning, they were slightly bloodshot and squinty. She lifted herself up timidly allowing Billy to rise. He forced his palms into his eyes, trying to physically dig the sleep from them.
