“The unexamined life is not worth living” - Socrates
In the evenings I sit on the porch and ask myself questions. Am I a whore, a home wrecker, an agent to bigamy, and an opportunist? What should I have done differently to avoid those labels? Are we defined by what we do or by why we do it? When my priorities clash with those labels that I know to be wrong, does that mean my priorities are wrong? Were my choices really choices, or was I simply a victim of circumstance and difficult times? Did I make choices by just following where I was led, or did I do the best with the time given to me? I have plenty of time to speculate on the answers now, as I sit on the porch and watch Gary work his way down the short street. He takes a long time even though the street is short because he stops, leans on his cane, and talks to everyone who approaches him. I have time to think, but I don’t have answers. I can only tell my story as I remember it, and perhaps answers will come.
