Chapter 17: About the Author

Chapter 1: Preface

This is an essay about piloting a glider, called "soaring" by those who do it. It discusses training experiences and glider flights including one in a mountain wave condition where winds flow over a mountain creating a wave that can keep a glider aloft for long periods of time.

The concepts provided herein are not official and are simply observations based on the author's memory of having earned a glider license and flying gliders in the past. Current information is undoubtedly different, but this essay present's the author's memory of his experiences flying gliders.
