Setting- The novel is set in the near future, which would be the near future of 1954, on a tropical island.
Point of View- The novel is told from the third person point of view, mostly following the character Ralph, however sometimes following the characters Jack or Simon. The narrator seems to have a deep understanding of the inner workings of the characters minds and thoughts.
