Getting It Out There: PR and Social Media for Writers

Budgeting Time and Money

Writers come into a publishing career with some strange misconceptions. I know I did. We sometimes think that becoming a published author is as simple as having a computer, a printer and correct postage to mail in our submissions. For me, it was. Actually, it was with a typewriter. I wrote longhand into a notebook, typed up that historical romance novel and sent it off to New York. It sold! I became a published author. The hard part was over. Now, all I had to do was sit back and wait for the money to roll in.

I waited.

And waited.

More books sold. More waiting.

Where was that pot of gold and early retirement the illusion of being a writer had promised me?
