Having worked in the mountains of Mindanao gave me an opportunity to witness how hardwork and determination can push anyone to finish his/her studies even if it meant walking several miles everyday just to get to school. Here, I have met Gemma Tolentino. I want to thank her for allowing me to witness and understand her world. She has also accommodated me very well during my 4 years in their hometown. Her story was one of my inspirations in this book.
Adonis, who was my college schoolmate, shared his wonderful journey.
Cyrus Borromeo is an illustrator and an artist who is now based in China. Our friendship began in college when we used to sleep in Luneta. I thank him for making all the illustrations in this book for free. His talent in arts benefited me immensely.
Ma’am Terri Bumanglag San Buenaventura was my former professor in Philippine Normal University. I was very delighted when she accepted my request of proofreading my book. Her edit was powerful and invigorating. I am thankful to her.
My wife Jhing was very patient with my late nights when I was still writing this book. Jhing, herself an engineer and business development practitioner, read through the manuscript, gave a fresh eye and additional insight to this book. I thank her for always supporting me on all my endeavours.
Putting this book together has been truly a great experience. Apart from the names mentioned above, there were many others who contributed. I appreciate everyone who helped and thank them for their encouragement and support.
