Everyone’s got one, right? That one sexual encounter that’s unlike any other. The one that’s completely out of character. The exception. The crazy one night stand or impulsive fling. Hopefully, it was a good experience. Something you can think back on with a mischievous smile.
Mine was, and it still makes me smile. I’ve relived every moment of it countless times. It happened just a few years ago, when I was twenty-two. Up until then I was about as normal as they come. Boring even. A couple boyfriends. Normal sex that happened the normal way. No crazy college orgies. No crazy anything.
It was the end of summer. I had been in a down mood for the past few weeks. Not exactly depressed—it was more like a general anxiety had taken hold of me. I’d recently broken up with my boyfriend; a hard decision, but one I knew I had to make. I could feel myself slowly sliding toward that I’ll never be with someone ever again feeling. I found myself having second thoughts about the breakup. As the weeks went by, my hand kept going to my phone, itching to call him. He was a workaholic who long ago stopped looking at me with the lust in his eyes that he once had. That was part of the problem—I hadn’t felt desired in a long time. It was like sex had been left behind at some point, substituted with late night TV and ice cream.
I knew I had to do something to snap out of the funk I was in. Feeling desperate but determined, I decided to do something I used to do, secretly, years ago. Something I hadn’t done for a long time.
