I slid into the house with a satisfied sigh. Coming home after a long day shouldn’t feel so good, but after a long day at the office, I had nothing more on my mind that crawling onto the couch and laying there until blissful sleep washed over me. I peeled my jacket off and mustered enough energy to fish a hanger from the closet before glancing around. There was a light on in the kitchen, but I hadn’t seen any sign of my wife, Leslie. I frowned. Come to think of it, her car hadn’t been in the driveway. That was odd. I shrugged and wandered toward the kitchen to turn off the light. I wasn’t made of money after all.

I paused as I rounded the corner and spied the empty kitchen. There was a fancy little glass bottle resting on the table, with a folded note resting beside it, my wife’s curling handwriting scrawled across the front of it. I smiled, shaking my head. So, that was her plan. A little gift to start off the evening. Well, maybe I wasn’t as tired as I thought. A little fun this evening could be in order. I snatched up the folded note, tapped in on the table thoughtfully for a moment, and opened it.
