This book is dedicated to the memory of Allan Robinson, diver and undersea treasure hunter. He was loved by some and hated by many. He never walked away from a fight. The judicial system found that he committed suicide in Long Bay prison on the 3 November, 1983 while awaiting a trial verdict that would ultimately have set him free. I was one of the police detectives that gave factual evidence at his trial. Other ‘key’ witnesses either didn’t show up or were shown to be somewhat unreliable. Some believe he was murdered in prison. It’s likely we will never know. It is indeed unfortunate that because of a piece of basically unworkable government legislation, he took with him to his death, the location of numerous wrecks and sunken treasure off the coast of Australia, most which now will be lost forever. Whatever the case, he is now free from a life of turmoil and conflict and is hopefully resting in peace together with his son Geoffrey Robinson.
